Diamond-cutting workshop

Behind the façades of Coquilhatstraat 43–45 lies a remarkable former workshop, hidden from view within the urban fabric of Antwerp’s Zuid district.

Built around 1909 as part of two townhouses with an adjoining warehouse, the property reflects the mixed character that once defined this part of the street. Homes stood alongside workshops, warehouses and buildings connected to Antwerp’s diamond trade, creating a neighbourhood where everyday life and craftsmanship existed side by side.

The rear building still carries the quiet, industrial character of that period. Its secluded setting, generous spaces and authentic atmosphere make it a distinctive place where traces of the past offer inspiration for a new future.

A New Home for Creativity

The building has been carefully renovated, while many of the original tools and work materials have been preserved as tangible reminders of its industrial past. Rather than erasing its history, the renovation has allowed the character of the former workshop to remain visible throughout the building.
